How monitoring works
How do I add a competitor?
From the dashboard, click Add Competitor and paste in a domain name (e.g. acme.com). CIM will automatically discover pricing pages, changelogs, job boards, review profiles, and news feeds. Confirm the sources you want to monitor, and CIM will start crawling within minutes.
How often does CIM check for changes?
Pricing and changelog sources are checked daily. Job boards and news are checked several times per day. Review profiles (G2, Capterra, Trustpilot) are checked weekly. You can see exact last-run times on the Health dashboard.
When will I receive my first digest?
CIM runs your first backfill crawl immediately after you add a competitor. A digest is generated as soon as the crawl completes and changes are detected — typically within 10 minutes. Weekly digests are sent every Monday morning.
What is a digest?
A digest is an AI-generated narrative summary of everything that changed for a competitor over the past week. It explains what happened, provides context about why it matters, and flags the most significant changes. Digests are delivered to your inbox every Monday.
Source coverage
What sources does CIM monitor?
CIM monitors six source types: Pricing pages (plan names, prices, features), Changelogs (release notes, feature announcements), Job boards (open roles, hiring signals), Reviews (G2, Capterra, Trustpilot star trends and themes), Ads (Meta and Google ad creative — Growth+ plans), and News (press releases, funding, partnerships).
What if CIM can't discover a source automatically?
CIM probes common paths and feed URLs automatically. If discovery misses a source, you can add it manually from the competitor's Sources tab by entering the URL directly.
Does CIM respect robots.txt?
Yes. CIM checks robots.txt on every crawl and skips any page your site has disallowed for our bot. See the /bot page for full compliance details.
Which review platforms are supported?
G2, Capterra, and Trustpilot — using each platform's official API or licensed data feed. We do not scrape review platforms that prohibit it in their Terms of Service.
Plans and billing
What is included in the trial?
Your 14-day free trial gives you full Growth plan access — 10 competitors, 5 seats, unlimited history, and weekly digests. No credit card required to start.
How do I upgrade?
Go to Settings → Billing and click Upgrade. You'll be taken to a Stripe-hosted checkout page. Your plan activates immediately and your trial period applies toward the first billing cycle.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from Settings → Billing → Manage Billing at any time. You keep access until the end of the billing period.
What is the history retention limit on Starter?
The Starter plan retains 90 days of change history. Growth and Pro plans retain unlimited history.
Alerts and notifications
Can I get real-time alerts when something important happens?
Real-time alerts (Pro plan) fire within hours of a significant change being detected — before the weekly digest. You can configure alert sensitivity thresholds in Settings.
How do I connect Slack?
Go to Settings → Integrations and click Connect Slack. You'll be prompted to authorize the CIM app to post to a channel of your choice. Digests and alerts will be delivered there automatically.
